Dr. Flojaune Cofer endorsed by Higher Heights for America PAC

National political organization brings Sacramento’s mayoral race to the big stage

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Dr. Flojaune Cofer has been endorsed by Higher Heights for America PAC, a serious player in US politics that promises to put a national spotlight on a pivotal race that could result in Sacramento’s first ever Black woman mayor.

Higher Heights works throughout the United States to expand elected representation for Black women at the federal and state levels, as well as in mayoral races in the nation’s 100 largest cities. Last election cycle, the group supported Karen Bass in her run to become Los Angeles’s next mayor, as well as representatives Cori Bush and Ayanna Pressley. 

“Dr. Flo has made it her priority to serve the constituents of Sacramento in a remarkable way, using her voice to bullhorn health and homelessness as top priorities,” said Eboni Taylor, Vice President of Program for Higher Heights for America PAC. “Higher Heights is proud to support Dr. Flo because she is committed to giving a voice to the voiceless and continues to prove that her commitment to the city of Sacramento is her number one priority.”

With Dr. Cofer’s primary election just three months away, this endorsement is a welcome boost in the race, which pits her against three career politicians – all men.

“Black women and workers are grossly underrepresented in U.S. politics, and that’s why organizations like Higher Heights for America PAC are so crucial to the future of this country,” said Dr. Cofer. “I am honored to help build their movement in my fight to transform Sacramento into a city that views housing as a human right, grows its economy with forward-thinking green jobs, and approaches public safety using a public health lens.”
